Executive Committee

We the members of the International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF) commit ourselves to unite into a powerful force to overcome the exploitation and abuse experienced by domestic/household workers across the World. (IDWF Constitution)
As of October 5, 2023, the Executive Committee shall be composed of one representative from each of seven regions: Africa, Asia/Pacific, Latin America, Caribbean, Europe, North America, and the Middle East and North Africa including the elected Office Bearers – President, Two Vice-Presidents. Following the relocation to Geneva, the constitution amendment was approved on 29 January 2023, and the General Secretary became ex-offico.

General Secretary of SYNTHOBRA NIGER
Nominated for a position in the Executive Committee on behalf of Africa

Aissata Sadjo has been the general secretary of SYNTHOBRA since her election in the 2010 congress. She is responsible of organizing domestic workers, raising their awareness of the Convention 189, and ensuring they are trained to best advocate for domestic workers rights.

Her efforts have ensured that each domestic worker in the union know what C189 is and knows its recommendation, as well as C190, and how to engage in collective bargaining. Her work has increased the visibility of domestic workers at a national and international level.

Aissata’s commitment to IDWF:

“I will faithfully carry out the mission entrusted in me, through being available and pragmatic in the execution of tasks, always ready to showcase and defend the work and interests of domestic workers, to honestly and accurately represent my continent, Africa, within the IDWF, to closely work with the affiliates in my region and beyond towards our shared goals. I will be available to listing carefully to my comrades in the struggle, I will respect their opinions and hear them out. I will push our agenda forward until more and more countries, including my own, ratify ILO conventions C189 and C190.”
