PHILIPPINES -

To support her family, Novelita Palisoc had no choice but to become a domestic worker in the Philippines, and later in the Gulf. Over the years, she experienced many forms of mistreatment and abuse that some 70 million domestic workers risk facing every day around the world. But her inspiring strength allowed her to fight back and take the lead of a prominent union which promotes the full implementation of the International Domestic Workers Convention adopted by the International Labour Organization in 2011.

Novelita Palisoc is a Filipina domestic worker and the President of United Domestic Workers of the Philippines (UNITED). She is a strong advocate for the rights and empowerment of domestic workers worldwide.
