ANGOLA -

The deputy general secretary of the UNTA-Trade Union Confederation, Maria Fernanda Francisco, called Tuesday in Luanda the Angolan women to make their efforts to get the ILO Convention 189 on domestic work adopted.

She launched this appeal at a meeting of the National Committee of Women's Union, during which she emphasized the need for women to be more and more united for the solution of the various problems affecting the class.

“Any domestic worker must have the same rights as a normal worker. It does not matter which type of activity she performs”, stressed the official.

In 2011 a worldwide campaign on the rights of domestic workers, named 12 by 12, was launched for the ratification of Convention 189 of the International Labour Organization (ILO), under the topic “the end of modern slavery”.

She explained that the campaign aimed at implementing actions in order to convince the Government to ratify this legal instrument.
