ZIMBABWE -

Domestic workers in Zimbabwe were able to observe and commemorate the International Women's Day organised by the national centre under the theme of "Women Unite and Inspire Change".

The commemoration was done on the 8th March 2014 and domestic workers were able to join others from other unions on the occasion where a clean up campaign was done at a community clinic.

Thereafter there was a match to a community hall where speeches and the commemoration was held. A domestic worker from Zimbabwe Domestic and Allied Workers Union (ZDAWU) gave a poem. The event was attended by a representative from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Youth and a number of female members of parliament who pledged to give their support for the ratification of ILO C189 once brought before parliament.
